Painting is a journey, not a destination!

Mary Ann Cox
To borrow from that old adage, I have been on a life long artistic journey for over forty years. My Grandmother set me out on that path when she presented me with a box of pastels so I would stay out of hers!

My work has changed much over the years from being overly descriptive to hopefully being more reflective and expressive. A whole new world opened up to me when I began to study painting under Skip Lawrence. I discovered new ways to apply watercolor paint and how to "break" the rules of traditional transparent watercolor painting. I also began to question my reasons for selecting subjects for painting. I now think about the why of a work and enjoy the how in many different ways.

My paintings now come from personal experiences and memories of special things from my past. Putting humor into many of my pieces makes it enjoyable. It all fits into my life and continuing journey.
